China’s Internet development is growing at an unprecedented speed in recent years. The internet penetration rate increased from 10.5% in 2006 to 53% in 2016. It is now the largest e-commerce market in the world.
To give you a better idea of China’s internet development, we have presented the statistics in the form of an infographic showing China’s internet development in 2016 and its influence on Chinese consumers. We have also prepared two tables showing the usage rate of internet applications by Chinese netizens.
As of Dec 2016, there were 731 million internet users and 95.1% of them were mobile netizens. 64% of the internet users shopped online. WeChat, QQ and Weibo remained the top three social media apps. Mobile online learning and mobile online meal delivery services experienced significant growth between 2015-2016.
